Agamemnon, King of Argos and general of the Greek expedition, has burnt Troy to the ground and is returning to Greece as a conquering hero. But his wife Clytemnestra hides adultery and murder in her heart. This will not be the homecoming he expects...
Aeschylus' tragic trilogy, the Oresteia, is one of the earliest pieces of Western theatre. First performed in 458 BC, its emotional power, and its impact on the history of theatre cannot be overestimated.
Trent University's Classics Drama Group presents, as a two-act performance, the first two plays of Aeschylus' trilogy, Agamemnon and Libation Bearers. The show will be approximately 2 hours long with a brief intermission.
