Gord Downie, The Sadies, And The Conquering Sun is the new collaborative project featuring two of Canada’s most distinct and original musical artists. The long-time Toronto friends first recorded together for the Lake Ontario Waterkeepers in 2006. Over the next seven years, recording sessions came about ‘urgently but slowly’ and lead to a project that personified ‘the action of first-thought-best-thought’ ethos.

Gord Downie needs very little introduction to music fans.  He is the enigmatic lead singer, lyricist and guitarist for Canada’s storied band, The Tragically Hip. No strangers to the Peterborough area, The Sadies began their journey of spreading their rusted psychedelia sounds over ten years ago in 1994.
