In Tame, choreographer Lara Kramer’s newest work, three dancers navigate a chaotic landscape filled with ambiguity, off-beat humour and colourful perversion. As Public Energy's artist-in-residence, Lara is putting the finishing touches on this brand new work and conducting a variety of outreach activities in the community. Kramer, whose work is intimately linked to memory and her aboriginal roots, took the Canadian dance world by storm with her most recent work, Native Girl Syndrome.

LYNN MILES & IAN TAMBLYN

LYNN MILES is one of Canada’s most accomplished singer/songwriters. She has 13 albums to her credit, and is the winner of a Juno Award for ‘Solo Roots Album of the Year’. She is also the winner of four Canadian Folk Music Awards.
Lynn tours North America and Europe, has produced albums for 3 other artists and written songs for theatre. Her song, ”Three Chords and the Truth” was recently featured on the BBC TV show “Case Histories”. Her latest album is ‘Downpour’, from 2013.

IAN TAMBLYN has released a staggering 38 albums as well as acting as producer for dozens of other artists. He has also written 14 plays and over one hundred theatre soundtracks. Currently he is writer in residence at Carleton University, teaching songwriting and composition to fourth year students. In 2012 Ian was made a fellow of the Royal Canadian Geographic Society for his guiding and creative work in the Canadian Arctic. He has an honourary doctorate from Lakehead University and a Distinguished Alumni Award from Trent University. In the spring of 2014 Ian finished work on his cd ‘The Labrador’, completing the last of his wonderful  ’Four Coast Project’. His latest album, ‘Walking in the Footsteps” (#38) Celebrates the Group of Seven and was commissioned by the Art Gallery of Sudbury.

HARRY MANX

Harry Manx has been dubbed an “essential link” between the music of the East and West, creating short musical stories that wed the tradition of the Blues with the depth of classical Indian ragas. In the mid 80’s he began a five-year tutelage with Rajasthani Indian musician Vishwa Mohan Bhatt (Grammy winner with Ry Cooder for ‘A Meeting By The River’) and began playing the Mohan Veena (20- stringed sitar /guitar hybrid. Manx is a prolific artist with nine albums in eight years. He has received seven Maple Blues Awards and his albums have garnered five Juno nominations. His latest album ,’20 Strings and the Truth’ is a mostly instrumental album, which fans had been asking for. His music is hard to resist, easy to digest and keeps audiences coming back for more !

It has been 15 years since a group of talented individuals within the Peterborough Singers formed an ensemble that is now proudly celebrated as Peterborough’s Music Ambassadors and a prominent member of the Peterborough Arts Community.  Five years ago, with the blessing of our “founding family”, we stepped out on our own and became incorporated as The Peterborough Pop Ensemble.  Today we are a thriving ensemble who performs throughout the Peterborough area and in other Ontario communities. 

The celebration of our success will be marked by a very special concert - "The Best of the Pops”.
Ticket prices include a reception catered by Black Honey following the concert.

We hope you will join us in this celebration!
