New Stages presents
The Boy in the Moon
by Emil Sher, based on the book by Ian Brown
New Stages proudly presents a staged reading of The Boy in the Moon by Emil Sher, based on the book by Ian Brown. This is a beautiful Dora-Award-winning play about life and parenthood and so much more—based on the true story of the life of Walker, son of renowned Canadian writers Ian Brown and Johanna Schneller.
This deeply moving play tells the story of a couple raising a child born with the rare cardiofaciocutaneous syndrome. Emotionally honest without veering into sentimentality, this play has received overwhelming acclaim and is a remarkable gift for audiences.
The reading stars Cliff Saunders, Linda Kash, and Sydney Marion, along with voice actors Kate Suhr, Hilary Wear, Laura Lawson, and Maria Luisa Belmes. New Stages’ Artistic Director Mark Wallace directs the reading, with original sound design by Bruno Merz (Showmakers Peterborough) and stage management by Esther Vincent.
Audiences are welcome to attend a short talk-back session with the creative team and with playwright Emil Sher following the reading.
Recommended audience: 14+, mature themes
Tickets: $28
50% off for arts workers, students, and underwaged.
