Cathedral Hill Presents: Ten Years, Ten Films

For ten years, Peterborough arts collective Cathedral Hill Productions has celebrated Halloween with an annual short film. What began as a joke in a Peterborough living room has spawned a tradition that encompasses over a dozen performers, multiple film fest awards, and some genuinely bizarre premises.
In “LHP: Understanding Lower Half Possession,” the city is possessed by demons, but only from the waist down. In “Schnitzelback,” winner of Best Canadian Film at the 2022 Canadian International Comedy Film Fest, a one-man polka-themed Nickelback cover band takes his show to the streets. And in “Mr. Possibility,” premiering at this event, Cathedral Hill director Matt Snell wrestles with what it all means.
Taken together, these films are more than just comedy. They’re a portrait of a community, a record of artistic growth, and a surrealistic time capsule of the decade past. A labour of love by everyone involved, this is DIY filmmaking at its finest. Scrappy, offbeat, and heartfelt—come see the cult classics you never knew existed!
