Sisters of the Split Sky: A Journey of Unity
Two Worlds. One Stage. A Story of Healing.
*Due to unforeseen circumstances, James Mixemong will not be performing in the show.
Experience Sisters of a Split Sky, a breathtaking multimedia musical spectacle exploring reconciliation and remembrance. Two sisters, separated by worlds, embark on a profound journey to rediscover their shared soul and remember who they truly are. Following the teachings of the Eagle Feather, they traverse a musical landscape like no other.
Witness a fusion of art and spirit, where composer-cellist Margaret Maria's stunning post-classical soundscapes merge seamlessly with singer-drummer Janet McCue's powerful Native songs and storytelling. The performance is anchored by "The Conundrum," (an incredible canoe drum created by Peterborough artist David Hynes) played by four-time JUNO Award winner Mark Kelso, its rhythm a pulse of unity and connection.
Immersive visuals by artist Joel Richardson, create a world where spirit, music, magic and hope all dance together. The stage vibrates with the Curve Lake Children's Drumming Group and celebrated local guests, including Peterborough violin virtuoso Victoria Yeh and more.
Sisters of the Split Sky is more than a performance; it's a sacred space where cultures bridge, divisions heal, and our shared humanity is celebrated in a symphony of sound, story, and spirit.
